The best beaches in Accra depend on what you want from the day. Bojo is the calm, clean one, Kokrobite is the one for music and surf, Ada Foah is the weekend away where the river meets the sea, and the city beaches at Labadi and Laboma are currently uncertain after beachfront venues were cleared in September and October 2026.

This guide ranks the options by purpose, uses the fees and travel times from our own detailed guides, and says clearly where something could not be confirmed.

The best beaches in Accra at a glance

  • Calm and clean: Bojo Beach at Bortianor, reached by a short boat crossing. Adult admission is GHS 50 on the resort's published rates.
  • Music and surf: Kokrobite, 27 to 30 km west of central Accra, roughly 45 to 60 minutes by road.
  • A weekend away: Ada Foah, with boat trips and water sports where the Volta meets the Atlantic.
  • Quieter beachfront next to Kokrobite: Langma, a stretch of small beachfront resorts along Langma Road.
  • A resort day east of the city: the Ningo-Prampram beaches.
  • A city beach club: Sandbox Beach Club, open Tuesday to Sunday on its published schedule.
  • Changed after the 2026 clearances: Labadi and Laboma.

Bojo Beach: the calm, clean day

Bojo sits on a narrow sand bar between the Densu lagoon and the Atlantic, and the only way on is a short boat ride from the mainland jetty. It is quieter and cleaner than the city beaches, with seating, a bar and a restaurant. Allow 45 minutes to an hour and a half from central Accra, depending on traffic. Kokrobite: music, food and surf

Kokrobite is the beach for a lively day or an overnight stay. Yen's October 2026 roundup lists music, food, accommodation and surfing lessons, and notes that Big Milly's Backyard advertises live bands at weekends. Langma: a quieter beachfront beside Kokrobite

Langma is the stretch of coast next to Kokrobite, reached along Langma Road. It is lined with small beachfront resorts rather than one big beach. Kai Kai Beach Resort, for example, lists direct beach access, a seafood restaurant and a bar, with rooms from GH₵700 a night. Day-visitor rules and fees vary by property and are not published for most of them, so call ahead before you go.

Ada Foah: a river and sea weekend

Ada Foah is further out, near where the Volta River meets the Atlantic, and suits a weekend more than a day. Yen lists beach relaxation, boat excursions and water sports. Our Ada Foah guide has the fares, boat tours and where to stay.

Ningo-Prampram: a resort day east of Accra

East of the city, the Ningo-Prampram coast includes resorts that welcome day visitors. Yen names The C Resort in New Ningo, which advertises a private sandy beach. Confirm the day-visitor price with the resort before you travel.

Sandbox Beach Club: a beach club in the city

Sandbox Beach Club is at 4th Otswe Street South in Accra. Its website lists a restaurant called Makosa, a members-only cigar club and an art gallery, and takes reservations online. Its published hours are 12 pm to 11 pm from Tuesday to Thursday and 12 pm until late from Friday to Sunday. It is closed on Mondays. The site does not publish an entry fee or a minimum spend, so ask when you book.

Labadi and Laboma: what changed in 2026

Labadi (La Pleasure Beach) and Laboma were Accra's best known city beaches. On 13 September 2026, structures at Laboma near the Kpeshie Lagoon were demolished, including the Pink Flamingo Lounge. The Presidency's statement said the action was not affecting the entire Laboma area, only identified structures, and it does not say whether the beach itself is open.

On 2 October 2026, structures at La Pleasure Beach were pulled down. SSNIT said the beaches would remain open to the public, while the beach's management said on 6 October that it could reopen within three weeks, conditional on debris clearance and temporary facilities.
