TGMA 2026 Predictions: Who Should Win Each Major Category?

Our TGMA 2026 predictions are here, and this might be the hardest year to call in the history of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards. With four artists tied on 8 nominations each and the genre landscape more diverse than ever, awards night is shaping up to be genuinely unpredictable. Here is our category-by-category breakdown of who should win, who will win, and the upsets to watch.

TGMA 2026 Predictions: Artiste of the Year

This is the big one. Our TGMA 2026 predictions for Artiste of the Year come down to two artists: Black Sherif and Stonebwoy. Black Sherif has had the most culturally significant year, with his music crossing Ghanaian borders and landing on international platforms in a way few Ghana artists have managed. His sound, story, and output in the eligibility period make him the strongest candidate on paper.

However, Stonebwoy is a perennial awards force. He connects with a massive fanbase, has a strong voting bloc, and has been delivering consistently. Do not count him out.

Should win: Black Sherif
Will win: Black Sherif (narrow margin over Stonebwoy)
Dark horse: Kojo Blak

TGMA 2026 Predictions: New Artiste of the Year

This should be Kojo Blak’s award to lose. No new artist has generated the kind of industry buzz and nomination count that Kojo Blak has managed in such a short time. His 8 nominations across multiple categories tells the story — the industry has taken notice.

Moliy is the only real competition here. Her sound is fresh, her international appeal is real, and her Song of the Year nomination makes her more than just a New Artiste contender. But on volume and consistency, Kojo Blak edges it.

Should win: Kojo Blak
Will win: Kojo Blak

TGMA 2026 Predictions: Song of the Year

Song of the Year is where our TGMA 2026 predictions get complicated. King Promise ft Mr Eazi — That Way has the streaming numbers, with over 1.6 million Spotify streams making it the most commercially successful Ghanaian song of the eligibility period. Streaming charts do not vote though — people do.

Black Sherif’s Oh No has the emotional weight and cultural resonance. Stonebwoy’s Activate has the dancefloor credentials. This is genuinely too close to call.

Should win: King Promise ft Mr Eazi — That Way
Will win: Black Sherif — Oh No
Sleeper pick: Kojo Blak — Street Code

TGMA 2026 Predictions: Album of the Year

Album of the Year in our TGMA 2026 predictions goes to Stonebwoy’s 5th Dimension. It is a cohesive body of work showcasing his full range without feeling scattered. Black Sherif’s Blacko is a serious contender, but 5th Dimension edges it on production quality and replay value.

Should win: Stonebwoy — 5th Dimension
Will win: Stonebwoy — 5th Dimension

Biggest Upset We Are Watching at TGMA 2026

Our biggest upset alert: Diana Hamilton winning Artiste of the Year. It sounds unlikely given the secular competition, but Hamilton has a deeply loyal fanbase, a politically active church voting network, and a track record of mobilising votes at scale. She has done it before.

The second upset to watch is Medikal sweeping the Hip Hop/Rap categories. After a quieter period, his 8-nomination comeback signals a resurgence that could translate into votes.

TGMA 2026 Predictions: Who Takes Home the Most Awards?

If our TGMA 2026 predictions hold, Black Sherif leaves the night as the biggest winner — taking Artiste of the Year and at least two genre awards. Stonebwoy claims Album of the Year. Kojo Blak wins New Artiste and sets up the defining Ghana music storyline of 2026.
