Aburi sits on the Akuapem ridge in the Eastern Region, and there are far more things to do in Aburi than the botanical gardens. This guide covers the craft village, two waterfalls, ATV riding and where to stay, and uses official or operator sources for the practical details. Where a fee or hour is not published, it says so.

Things to do in Aburi at a glance

  • Aburi Botanical Gardens: the main draw, covered in our own guide.
  • Aburi Craft Village: a handicraft market at Aburi Y Junction, next to Aburi Girls.
  • Asenema Waterfalls: about 10 minutes from Adukrom, plus a 5 minute walk, according to the Okere District Assembly.
  • Boti Falls: about 17 km north-east of Koforidua.
  • ATV Aburi: quad biking at Pipawini, about 30 minutes from Aburi township.
  • Resorts: three resorts publish their own details, compared in our resorts guide.

Aburi Botanical Gardens

The gardens are the reason most people come, and a good first stop. Our Aburi Botanical Gardens guide covers fees, opening hours, the best time to go and what to see.

Aburi Craft Village

The craft village's own website gives its address as Aburi Y Junction, adjacent to Aburi Girls, and describes it as a handicraft market centre with more than 100 vendors, selling items such as baskets, fabrics, jewellery, instruments and masks. Graphic Online reported in January 2022 that the Ghana Export Promotion Authority refurbished it as a multi-purpose centre for locally produced handicrafts, with displays arranged like the rooms of a Ghanaian home.

The website does not publish opening hours for visiting the shops in person, so call the hotline it lists or visit during normal daytime hours and expect some stalls to be closed.

Asenema Waterfalls

The Okere District Assembly says Asenema is only 10 minutes from Adukrom and just a 5 minute walk from the main road along a marked trail. That makes it one of the easier waterfall stops in the Akuapem Hills.

We have not given an entry fee. Pages from a tourism booking service quote different figures, and the District Assembly's page does not list one, so ask at the site or confirm with the district office before you go.

Boti Falls

Visit Ghana puts Boti Falls about 17 km north-east of Koforidua, and visitors reach the twin falls down a flight of 250 concrete steps. Our Boti Falls and Umbrella Rock guide covers the walk, the Umbrella Rock hike and when the falls run strongest.

ATV Aburi quad biking

ATV Aburi is not in Aburi town. Visit Ghana's listing, dated April 2025, places it at Pipawini, about 30 minutes from Aburi township. The listing shows a one hour, 8 km ride at GH₵250 per person on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and a two hour, 18 km ride at GH₵350 on Fridays to Sundays that includes an instructor lesson and a trip to a waterfall. It also lists 30 minutes of archery at GH₵30.

These are advertised rates from a 2025 listing, not confirmed current prices. Call the numbers on the listing, 0200 591 233 or 0543 839 921, to check that rides are running and what they cost.

Where to stay in Aburi

Peduase Valley Resort, Hillburi and Beposo Resort each publish their own details, including rates and day-visitor rules where available. Our guide to resorts in Aburi compares them.

If you are planning a weekend, add the Bunso Eco Park canopy walk to the same trip.

Stay connected

Mobile data helps for maps, mobile money and calling a driver on the ridge roads. An eSIM is the simplest way to have it from the moment you land.
